Game 5

After Game 5, still alive.

Edmonton native Fernando Pisani made a bunch of people happy with his short-handed breakaway goal at the 3:31 mark in overtime to edge Carolina 4-3.

It was the first shorthanded overtime goal ever in the Stanley Cup Finals.

There will be one more game in Edmonton this year. Any way you look at it, there is only one more game at Rexall Place.

The Oilers found their power play tonight. And Canadians (along with Americans like me who think the Cup should never reside in the South) have hope once again.

But let's not mistake it. What Edmonton is trying to do has only happened once before. The Toronto Maple Leafs trailed Detroit 3-0 in the 1942 final before rallying to win.

One last note: Normally, Edmonton-Calgary in any contest is significant. The two cities have a heated Alberta-based rivalry. The teams will battle in football in Calgary as the Grey Cup champion Edmonton Eskimos start to defend its crown. Game time is 8p Eastern Saturday -- same time as the Oilers in Game 6. It's difficult to feel sorry for Edmonton sports fans, but their necks might be a little sore Saturday night, straining to watch two things at once.
