Waiting almost over

Buffalo kept its hopes alive, forcing a Game 7 with a 2-1 overtime win over Carolina. The Sabres are 1-4 in Game 7; Carolina 0-3.

Game 7 is Thursday. The Stanley Cup finals start June 5 in either Buffalo or Carolina.

Those who have asked me "Why Buffalo" have a good point. Why root for Buffalo? Why root against Carolina?

Rooting against Carolina:
* They're in Carolina, south of the Mason-Dixon line.
* They moved from a hockey area (Hartford) to one that is not (Raleigh).
* They are not even in Charlotte, a good-sized North Carolina city.
* They beat the Canadiens.

Rooting for Buffalo:
* A real hockey town.
* Wings, wings, wings.
* Really close to Canada; the team has Canadian fans.
* Would peeve the NHL and OLN since they want Carolina.
* Buffalo and Edmonton sound better.
* Grabbing the Stanley Cup from the South (Tampa Bay Lightning have the trophy right now).
