Oh Edmonton

If you missed the third period of Detroit-Edmonton, you truly missed a great comeback, drama on ice. Edmonton looked lifeless through two periods, fortunate to be down only 2-0 to Detroit. But hometown fav Fernando Pisani scored two goals to tie the game, Detroit came back with a goal, and then Ales Hemsky scored his only two goals of the series, the final one with 1:06 remaining in regulation. In Detroit, they are probably screaming about the goal that tied the game (Hemsky's first), but it really was a goal.

Edmonton had hit a dry spell. This marks the Oilers' first playoff series win since 1998.

The jubilation of the crowd shots the CBC showed last night was incredible to watch. The young people in particular they showed after the Oilers tied it at 3 and the game-winner; they must have been like 11-13 the last time the Oilers won a playoff series. They were so happy! That was fun to watch. You just don't see that level of passion in the States.

Speaking of drama, Calgary is set up for the ultimate crucial: Game 7. Anaheim edged the Flames 2-1, forcing a Game 7 Wednesday night. Time of the game in Calgary? It is 9 p.m. EDT (7 in Calgary), according to the CBC Web site.
