NHL weekend preview

Montreal fans aren't thrilled to have seen their beloved Canadians lose twice at home to the Hurricanes. I know that being the #7 seed that expectations can't be high. But winning the first two on the road did lead to high expectations. Same for Edmonton as the #8 seed out west with Detroit. Edmonton lost any advantage by losing Thursday night.

Saturday will prove to be interesting if your couch is comfy enough for you: a tripleheader of hockey all with a Canadian angle. Edmonton will be at Detroit at 3p Eastern, followed by Tampa Bay at Ottawa at 7p and Anaheim at Calgary at 10p. Ottawa can win on Saturday; Edmonton and Calgary can gain the upper hand with a win. The Edmonton/Detroit is only offered regionally in the States on NBC.

All three games air on the CBC in Canada. NBC will have the afternoon contest while OLN carries the night games. In fact, in Detroit, you have your choice of channels for the Red Wings and Oilers. You can watch the game on Channel 4, WDIV (NBC) or Channel 9, CBET, Windsor. If I were in Detroit, I think you know what my choice would be: sitting in a bar in Windsor with a Labatt's (or Molson) watching on Channel 9.

Don't forget Montreal at Carolina in the big Game 5 Sunday night at 7:30p Eastern. Unfortunately, only the CBC (and RDS) has that coverage.
