Canada women advance to gold

For those who were hoping for a Canada-U.S. women's hockey final, you get half of that. Sweden upset the U.S. 3-2 in a shootout to advance to play Canada. Canada downed Finland 6-0 to advance.

Dominance is an understatement to describe the Canadian women's hockey team. Canada has outscored the opposition 42-1 in Turin and hasn't even allowed an even-strength goal. Canada is defending its Olympic title it won in 2002.

Though the team took some flak for running up the scores, goal differential is a tiebreaker.

The line of Gillian Apps, Cherie Piper and Hayley Wickenheiser combined for 9 points in the semifinal game and has 42 overall.

The U.S. still has a chance to win the bronze when it takes on Finland.

CBC will show the championship contest Monday at 2:30 p.m. EST/ 11:30 a.m. PST.
