Canada men lose to the Swiss
I'm sure this shocked you, too. Canada lost 2-0 to Switzerland in Group A play at the Winter Olympics. Only three of the Swiss players are on NHL rosters.
It helps if one of them is a goalie. In this case, Martin Gerber, who plays for the Carolina Hurricanes, stopped 49 shots in an amazing performance. Canada was 0-for-9 on the power play.
Former Montreal Canadien Paul Di Pietro scored both goals.
It was Switzerland's first victory over Canada in Olympic hockey history. Switzerland now has the tiebreaker against Canada. Things just got a lot more interesting for Canada and the United States.
UPDATE: The U.S. also lost today, 2-1 to Slovakia. The U.S., which has also tied Latvia, now stands at 1-1-1.
