And then there was one
The country of Canada rests entirely on the shoulders of... the Edmonton Oilers. Of the four Canadian teams in the playoffs, the Oilers had the least likely chance to remain. Canada's best shot, the Ottawa Senators are gone.
The Sens last move of the season was watching Buffalo score a short-handed goal in overtime in Ottawa. Ottawa can be proud that each game was a 1-goal game. But expectations for a #1 seed are much higher.
Give credit to Buffalo. Ryan Miller in goal has been the better goaltender in the series.
Still, Canadian fans like to rally around one of their own, and Edmonton is it.
As for the Oilers, 5 unanswered goals in Game 4 does wonders for the ego. This is a team that has looked sluggish against San Jose. This was a team that couldn't score in Game 2 in a 5-on-3 where TWO Sharks players had broken sticks. But then again this team pulled out a triple-overtime win in Game 3 where Ryan Smyth recovered from a puck to the teeth (goodbye teeth, hello stitches), and came back to assist on the game-winner. This team hasn't always been consistent, but they have some strong momentum going for them. Canada is watching you, Edmonton Oilers.
