"The Next Great Prime Minister"
I will be the first to say I'm not crazy about reality shows. But the newest one from Canada has a definite twist.
On February 4, CTV will debut "The Next Great Prime Minister." The contest matches five young Canadians as they take on public speaking and debate challenges. The prize includes an internship in a Canadian public policy think tank, a pretty cool prize.
The twist to the twist is that four former prime ministers will be judges: Kim Campbell (1993, PC), Joe Clark (1979-1980, PC), Brian Mulroney (1984-93, PC) and John Turner (1984, Liberal).
So even though Canadians may not have thrilled to have the just-completed race, but will watch a political reality show. CTV obviously hopes there's a difference.
And one side note: in researching this story, I discovered that the host of "Canadian Idol" (yes, think "American Idol" but Canadian) is Ben Mulroney, whose father was prime minister.
