Flutie chooses retirement
Congratulations on a huge career by Doug Flutie, a man who was told he wouldn't amount to much in professional football.
Flutie announced his retirement from the NFL, where he has been since 1998. Flutie was a star quarterback in the CFL with British Columbia, Calgary, and Toronto from 1990-1997.
He passed for 14,715 NFL yards, but threw for 41,355 yards in eight CFL seasons. Flutie ranks 6th in all-time CFL passing.
Flutie's career was likely over after his drop kick for New England in the playoffs.
Though he is 43, his age wouldn't be a deterrent in the CFL. Just look at Toronto QB Damon Allen. And Hamilton did want him back a year ago.
But Flutie is going to enjoy his retirement. And to give you an idea of the road map of his career, here we have a full list, including a brief stay in the USFL.
