Harper to have first meeting with Bush, Fox

The first Stephen Harper-George Bush in-person matchup will interestingly happen on Mexican soil. Harper is scheduled to go to Cancun March 30-31 for an official meeting with Bush and Mexican President Vicente Fox.

While the leaders of the three countries traditionally meet annually to discuss prominent trade and political issues, Harper will likely look at this opportunity to put his best foot forward.

Bush hasn't paid much attention to Canada or Mexico, so this will be an intriguing opportunity for Harper and Fox. At the same time, I think Harper, for his own sake, would benefit from eventually having a U.S.-Canada summit, preferably on Canadian soil. But I wouldn't hold my breath.
