CBC in lockout mode
The CBC has locked-out its English employees as of this morning. Those in Quebec and Moncton, NB are not affected.
The Canadian people clearly benefit from the Canadian programming on CBC TV and Radio. I personally hope for a brief interruption of programming and a quick resolution to the process.
CBC management says its main issue is the ability to hire temporary workers to keep costs down. CBC employees are concerned about relying too much on temporary employees. Also, there is the apprehension over how employees will react in a temporary mode, and whether Canadians are served well when there is apprehension over how stories are covered.
Here at Canadian Corner, we adamantly want the return of CBC programming as soon as possible with protection for its employees.
